Zehra Kamal 

 

Clinical Psychologist

Zehra Kamal Alam is a practicing clinical psychologist and trainer with twenty years of experience. She holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Karachi as well as a Masters Degree in Psychology of Education from Columbia University, USA. At Columbia, she specialized in global mental health and trauma issues.

 

As a trainer, she has worked both nationally and internationally in Turkey, Nepal, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. She also has experience in program development and management and has worked with many development sector organizations and educational institutions.

 

Zehra’s interest lies in understanding the impact of gender socialization, inequities, life experiences, and violence on the mental health of various communities, especially marginalized groups. Besides her own private practice, she is the technical lead of an emotional health project for a Pakistani school system and is also supervising and training helpline staff to tackle mental health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This section provides an understanding of the thoughts and emotions that are currently being experienced by individuals along with the reactions that come with them.

The ongoing pandemic has affected almost every aspect of human life, including the workplace. An in-depth discussion of how the dynamic and the environment of the workplace has changed is provided in this section, along with its impact on the employee.

 

Workplace and Mental Health:

An employee’s mental health can have a profound impact on their time in the workplace. Having a healthy state of mind provides a solid foundation upon which one can carry out their duties. The effects of poor mental health are discussed in this section, including some common symptoms and conditions.

 

Self-Care:

In addition to understanding the effects on poor mental health on an individual’s life, one must have the relevant knowledge to be able to cope with such issues. This will allow for improvement in a person’s overall well-being. Different methods of caring for one’s health, both physical and mental, have been provided in this section.

 

Organization’s Role:

In order for employees to feel safe in their work environment, an organization must ensure that proper measures are taken to create an atmosphere that is favorable to one’s mental health and productivity. An organization's management team must focus the critical aspects discussed in this section to ensure the well-being of their employees.
